About Us

We are a unique team made up of missionaries who were called by God and appointed by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to do one thing: glorify the Father by planting a movement of churches that will plant churches.

Very simply this means that our mission is to prepare the People of Warsaw, Poland to receive the Gospel through praying radically, through broadly and abundantly sowing the Seed of the Word, through boldly and fearlessly proclaiming the Gospel, and intentionally gathering those People of Warsaw who believe into indigenous and reproducible churches.

Susan Carson

A native of Oklahoma and naturalized Texan at age 6, I grew up and went to school in Cleburne, Texas and attended Field Street Baptist Church. I graduated from Hardin-Simmons University (Abilene, TX) and Southwestern Theological Baptist Seminary (Fort Worth, TX). After serving in churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas with youth and students, I came to Warsaw in 1996. Initially I worked with students and singles, as well as English events and camps for these groups and children. Nowadays I work with families and professionals primarily. During my free time I like to travel, scuba dive, brush up on fish species, read a little, look for creative outlets with my hands, attempt to cook a new recipe or develop my own and dream of a day when I can pick up a paintbrush again. I love to see the colors of life God creates in places and cultures, but mostly in people to see the hues of the heart as God works in our lives.

Joe Vaughn
I was born in Houston, Texas quite some time ago. I went to high school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and still count First Baptist BA as my home church. I graduated from the University of Tulsa, and then served in churches in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. I have lived in Warsaw since 2002 and from 2004 to 2008 taught a course, American Popular Culture, at the University of Warsaw. I love interesting conversation, traveling around Poland (there are castles!), cross-cultural discovery, blues guitar, NFL, video games and science fiction. I love my role on Team Warsaw as it allows me to pursue my calling and passion. It is always my great joy to share about Warsaw with anyone who will listen. If you feel the urge, please write!

John Mark Folker

I was born and raised in Griffin, Georgia. I grew up going to Mt. Gilead Baptist and still call that my home church today. I have had many trying times in my life, including the death of my father at age 10, but God has been preparing me for what lies ahead. In the summer of 2006, I served in Warsaw and God began to stir Poland into my heart. During the end of college I began thinking about post-graduate life and our Father led me in the direction of missions. Shortly after graduating from Southern Polytechnic State University in December 2008, I began in February 2009 serving as a Journeyman in Warsaw as a Media Specialist. God has allowed me to use my education for HIM building and managing two websites – this one and a site encouraging others to share their experiences of God’s love. In my spare time, I like to watch college football, play any kind of sports and games, and exploring around Poland's castles is pretty fun too!

Kaylin Bowers
Raised in beautiful North Carolina, I find myself as a Journeyman in Warsaw, Poland through 2010, but not without the support of my family and my home church, Oak View Baptist located in High Point, NC. I graduated from Gardner-Webb University where I was heavily involved with the Deaf community and the student newspaper. I studied Photojournalism, and while in school interned for a summer, serving with Team Warsaw doing photography and assisting summer volunteer groups. It was there that the seeds were planted leading me to return to Poland. After graduation in 2006, I worked as a news photographer in Charlottesville, VA shooting sports, daily news and various human-interest stories for nearly 2 years before joining Team Warsaw, as a Media Specialist in October 2008. I currently provide content for our websites and work in various team ministries.
